Diese Lehrveranstaltung kann (nur gemeinsam mit der zugehörigen Vorlesung 300015) von Studierenden des Bachelor-LA-Studiums (UF BU 10 Wahlbereich, 0-10 ECTS) sowie des Master-LA-Studiums (UF MA BU 01 Fachwissenschaftliche Vertiefung in Biologie und Umweltkunde, 12 ECTS) besucht werden! Die vorherige Absolvierung der VU Anatomie und Physiologie der Pflanzen wird dringend empfohlen!!

Obligatory preliminary discussion on Mon, 2020-03-02, 11.30 Lecture room II (HSII), Biozentrum, UZA1, Althanstraße.
Practical class starts on Tuesday, 2020-03-10, 10.00-12.45 (for group 1 and 2) and on Wednesday, 2020-03-11, 10.00 - 12.45 (for group 3) in experimental garden "Augarten", Obere Augartenstraße 1a, 1020 Wien.

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this practical class main emphasis is placed on theoretical background (plant physiological, ecological context) and practical application (horticultural techniques) in the following fields:
Germination physiology and allelopathy, plant breeding and cultivation, working mechanisms of phytoeffectors, knowledge and cultivation of indoor and outdoor plants and an excursion to an
agricultural plant / factory.
The course deals with plant physiological principles and methods used in nurseries and horticulture. Practical examples are conducted in small groups, results are evaluated and presented.
Excursions impart further knowledge.
Many of the practical examples can be implemented at school.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written short protocol, final discussion, regular attendance, collaboration. A maximum of 2 units may be missed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students should learn to work autonomous, to cope with ecological tasks, especially in breeding and propagation of plants as well as implementation of these experiments at school.
Most of the experiments selected can be performed easily at school.
