Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The importance of scientific collections as a basis for research projects is exemplified in form of lectures, a practical course and a seminar. The participants get insights in the significance of collections and series of specimens as reference and as a basis for scientific projects (biodiversity in space and time, systematics and evolution) as well as for the traceability of scientific results. In the practical course the participants are introduced into current research projects and get familiar with the work in and with scientific collections (techniques and analyses), from data collection to evaluation. The way from sample collection in nature to the conserved specimen in a scientific collection (as the basis for evolutionary research) is traced.
