Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
It is an aim of these practical exercises to get hands-on experience in the recognition of symmetry and anisotropic physical features of crystals such as mechanical and optical properties. Moreover, the most common rock-forming and ore minerals are presented and, in addition to mere recognition, students learn simple chemical and physical methods (applicable also in the class room) to identify them.
Assessment and permitted materials
Zwei schriftliche Teilprüfungen (TP) während der LV (zur Symmetrie und zum Bestimmen von Mineralen, je max. 16 Punkte) und 1 praktische TP am Ende der LV (Bestimmen von Symmetrie und Mineralen, max. 24 Punkte). Anwesenheitspflicht zu mindetens 75%, je 1 x Fehlen bei 1.TP und 2.TP toleriert (Nachtermine vorhanden). Erlaubte Hilfsmittel bei 1. und 3. TP: Symmetrie- und Mineralbestimmungstabellen.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
"Genügend" ab 50% der Max.-Punkte. Darüberhinausgehende Punktezahlen bis zur max. Punktezahl sind gleichmäßig auf die Noten 1-4 aufgeteilt.
Examination topics
Inhalt der gesamten LV. Es geht um eine praktische Fertigkeit, d.h. Erkennen von Symmetrie und Bestimmung von Mineralen. Daher sind schriftliche Hilfsmittel, d.h. Tabellen, erlaubt.
