301140 SE Protein-protein interactions and Molecular Membrane Biology (2020W)

VDS Molecules of Life

4.00 ECTS (2.00 SWS), SPL 30 - Biologie
Continuous assessment of course work

Language: English

The workshop is open to PhD students of the DK SMICH only!
The workshop will be announced this semester only.
Anmeldung über:cornelia.oppitz@univie.ac.at

Aims, contents and method of the course

The workshop will cover classical biochemical approaches such as co-immunoprecipitation and pulldowns as well as an imaging-based method to study protein-protein interactions at equilibrium. Membrane-localized biochemical reactions will be visualized on artificial membranes using fluorescently labeled proteins and fluorescence microscopy. Students will learn about basic strategies in protein expression/purification and basic techniques for liposome preparation and handling. Practical work will be illustrated using the assembly of signaling complexes in autophagy as example.
