Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The scope of this lecture is to provide a solid introduction to basic next generation sequencing (NGS) analysis techniques. The target audience is students with little or no experience in practical bioinformatics analysis workflows. The following topics will be covered: Introduction to the Linux command line, handling of standard NGS data formats and analysis tools, including quality control, read mapping, differential gene expression analysis, and data visualization. This will be performed in the course of a small scientific project. After successfully attending the course, students will be capable of performing basic NGS analyses independently.

Assessment and permitted materials

Compulsory attendance. The evaluation consists of different performances: active participation, analysis results, written protocol.
