Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Recent research highlights that diet plays a fundamental role in shaping brain health, affecting neural function, cognition, and emotional well-being across the lifespan. Nutrients, dietary patterns, and bioactive food components can influence neurodevelopment, protect against age-related decline, and modulate the risk of neurological and psychiatric disorders. This seminar will explore current evidence on how dietary factors impact brain function in both health and disease, as well as potential nutritional strategies to promote cognitive resilience and healthy aging.

In this seminar, the students will present cutting-edge research papers on dietary effects on brain health and critically discuss research findings.
The students will be able to:
• understand the key concepts of dietary effects on brain health
• identify key points from journal articles
• critically appraise journal articles
• interpret data in figures and tables
• summarize journal articles in their own words
• present scientific literature
• formulate ideas for future research
• formulate discussion questions
• participate in academic discourse regarding research on dietary effects on brain health
