Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This lecture addresses both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of specialised communication and terminology. We will examine the defining features of languages for specific purposes and the dynamics of specialised communication. Particular emphasis will be placed on the principles of terminology science and the methodologies of terminology work, especially within multilingual and translation-oriented contexts. The lecture will also provide insights into diverse perspectives within the field and critically engage with various approaches to terminology work.Objectives: Students will become familiar with key types of specialised texts and will be able to describe the macro- and microstructure of such texts. They will master the fundamentals of terminology theory and methods of terminology work, and will understand different perspectives on terminology science and research in specialised communication.Methods: Lecture, plenary discussions; required reading.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written exam in German.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Grading: 0-60% 5 (fail), 61-70% 4, 71-80% 3, 81-90% 2, 91-100% 1.
