Aims, contents and method of the course

In this practical lecture students will pratice the translation of legal texts of different áreas, learn sources of law and soures for research of legal terminology. Different realities of legal leanguage in Brazil and Portugal will be considered. By the means of analysis, translation and discussion of translational decisions students will develop competencies for tasks in legal translation.
The profession of a sworn translator and requisites and norms for sworn translations will be presented.

In dieser Lehrveranstaltung üben die Studierenden die Übersetzung von Rechtstexten aus verschiedenen Bereichen, lernen Rechtsquellen und Quellen für die Recherche von Rechtsterminologie kennen, wobei die unterschiedlichen Realitäten der Rechtssprache in Brasilien und Portugal berücksichtigt werden. Mittels Analyse, Übersetzung und Diskussion von übersetzerischen Entscheidungen entwickeln die Studierenden Kompetenzen, die für die Ausführung von AUfgaben im Bereich des Rechtsübersetzens notwendig sind.
Der Beruf des Beeideten Übersetzers und Anforderungen und Regeln für beglaubigte Übersetzungen werden vorgestellt.

Assessment and permitted materials

Avaliation of students is based on presence and active participatinoin class and on the moodle platform. Handing-in of home work assignments and a final exam.

Beurteilt werden die Anwesenheit und laufende Mitarbeit in Präsenz und auf Moodle, die Abgabe von Hausübungen und eine Abschlussprüfung.
