Aims, contents and method of the course

Ziele
Erwerb vertiefender Kenntnisse im Dialogdolmetschen spezifisch in den Bereichen Wirtschaft, Recht, Politik und Diplomatie; Vertiefung der terminologischen Recherchekompetenz, Auseinandersetzung mit ethischen Fragen und professionellen Standards im Dialogdolmetschen

Inhalte
Simulation von B2B-Gesprächssituationen, rechtlichen, politischen und diplomatischen Settings

Methoden
Rollenspiele, Diskussion

Kenntnisse der Notizentechnik und des Dolmetschens werden vorausgesetzt.

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous assessment of course work. Your grade is determined by all written and oral exercises in class, at home, and online. The contributions are weighted as follows:

- active participation (glossaries, research, taking on the role of speaker in your own dialogues, etc.) 30 %
- interpreting in class 70 % (at least half the interpretations must have a passing grade)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

At least half of your interpretations must be graded with a pass to pass the class and you may not miss more than two classes. You must reach at least 60% of the total points.

The contributions are weighted as follows:

- active participation (glossaries, research, taking on the role of speaker in dialogues, preparing your own dialogues, etc.) 30 %
- interpreting in class 70 %

You may miss up to 2 classes (90 minutes each) with good reason.

1 (sehr gut) 90 - 100 %
2 (gut) 80 - <90 %
3 (befriedigend) 70 - <80 %
4 (genügend) 60 - <70 %
5 (Fail) <60 %

Examination topics

Continuous assessment of course work - no exam. Researching and preparing information and terminology for the topics of each class, holding presentations and dialogues, interpreting.
