Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

It is a REQUIREMENT that participants are familiar with basic concepts of translation/interpreting studies as well as the fundamentals of academic research and writing, as taught in the lecture courses "Translatorische Methodik intra- und interlingual" and "Einführung in das wissenschaftliche Arbeiten".

The proseminar gives insights into research on "Interpreting in International Organizations". Based on a list of mandatory readings, participants choose a topic from the references provided in the course. They then develop that topic in teams of two, contextualizing it in the state of the art. The aim is to prepare an oral presentation and write a proseminar paper that conforms to the requirements and conventions of academic writing.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment is based on performance in the course and the proseminar paper. A maximum of 14 points can be earned as follows:
Proseminar paper: up to 7 points
Oral presentation: up to 4 points
Attendance and active participation: up to 3 points

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance is mandatory. Minimum requirements for a passing grade include the submission of a proseminar paper and an oral presentation. The proseminar paper will be checked by Turnitin.
