Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

At the end of the semester, the students should be familiar with representative text types from selected disciplines of the natural sciences and technology, as well as be able to recognize the linguistic resources of such discourse types, and to apply then specially when translating.

Content: Development of translation strategies depending on the type of text and target audience, considering theoretical skills.

Method: Practice-oriented work with complex German- and Spanish-language source texts, which are handed out by the LV-leader during the semester. The individual texts will be contextualized, analyzed and translated during the course.

Assessment and permitted materials

Immanent course grading: grade based on the semester performance. Regular attendance is prerequisite for assessing the student’s performance. Continuous active in-class participation and written exams during the semester as well 2 mid term tests und an end of term test. Attendance in the first session of this course is required.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- Attendance: students may be twice unjustifiably absent.
- The weekly exercise and all tests are mandatory.
- 55% of all exercises including exams must be positive.

Examination topics

Will be involved in a discussion process during the first lesson and will be announced on the learning platform at the beginning of the semester.
