Aims, contents and method of the course

Improvement of consecutive interpreting skills from Russian into German and vice versa, with and without note-taking techniques.
Memory training; improvement of rhetorical skills; presentation techniques; note-taking techniques: individual development of note-taking techniques.
In-depth study of individual subject areas (from politics, economics, science, culture, etc.) with the corresponding terminology.
Ongoing vocabulary work (active development and learning of terms and phrases based on the teaching material).

Assessment and permitted materials

Feedback from both teacher and colleagues (peers); self-evaluation.
(oral tests, if required)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- Attendance and active participation (students are allowed to be absent max. 2 times per semester)
- Working on vocabulary (will be encouraged by testing)
- Interpreting during the class, including feedback for peers
- Assignments aimed at preparing and evaluating interpretations
- Interpreting test at the end of the semester

The grade is made up of the following components:
Assignments and vocabulary tests: 30 %
Active participation and performance during the semester: 40 %
Interpreting test at the end of the semester: 30 %

For a positive semester grade, more than half of the performances must be positively evaluated.

Examination topics

Course with continuous assessment of students' performance, therefore there will be no final exam. Active participation in class; if required, we can do 2-3 exam simulations, so as to focus on specific requirements in an exam situation.
