Aims, contents and method of the course

Text analysis and production with special attention to various text functions and types, media, target groups, writing process(es), revision, argumentation.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be based on the following:
- Participation in class and in online activities (10%)
- Two tests (25% each)
- Completion of written assignments (40%).
Attendance mandatory (two absences allowed).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The objectives of this course are as follows:
- to hone students' writing skills for a wide variety of situations, especially with regard to text conventions
- to develop students' ability to produce texts which are appropriate to a given situation and assignment.

Examination topics

Students will achieve the course objectives by:
- analyzing and assessing a variety of texts (individual/group projects)
- writing, adapting/rewriting and optimizing texts for various situations, target groups and media
- reflecting on and discussing various steps in the text production process.
