Aims, contents and method of the course
To be able to follow and critically evaluate the rapid developments in the field of molecular exercise physiology, it is essential to become familiar with fundamental molecular and cellular biology techniques such as Western blotting, PCR, or ELISA and their application in training science and sport physiology. This seminar aims to provide a solid foundation, which can be further deepened both practically and theoretically within the context of a research internship and/or a master’s thesis.Over the course of the seminar week, the complete workflow of a fictional study on the topic “Effects of high-intensity exercise on the human organism” will be carried out as an exemplary case. All key steps will be covered, from study planning and preparation to implementation, data collection and laboratory analysis, as well as data analysis, interpretation, and the final presentation of results.Students will actively take on different roles within the study process (study participants, testers, and evaluators), thereby gaining practical insight into the implementation and analysis of exercise physiology research projects.
Assessment and permitted materials
Assessment is carried out continuously throughout the seminar and consists of several partial components.
