Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims and objectives:
• To provide knowledge, skills and competences for the assessment of physical fitness and different motor abilities
• To provide knowledge, skills and competences on how to define research questions
• To provide knowledge, skills and competences on how to plan and conduct research
• To provide skills and competences in data recording and analysis

Assessment and permitted materials

Subtasks to be fulfilled by the students related to the individual chapters (one chapter corresponds to a student’s workload of 1 ECTS = 25 hrs each.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Continuous assessment:
o compulsory attendance of at least 75% (prerequisite for courses with continuous assessment)
o participation and activity in discussions (10%)
o planning and conducting assessments (25 %)
o data collection and analysis (20%)
o preparing and presenting results (20%)
o written summary (25%)

Examination topics

Students are able to:
• Define appropriate methods for the assessment of physical fitness
• Define appropriate research questions
• Appropriately organise the required assessments and conduct data acquisition based on the research questions
• Appropriately measure, apply calculations as required and prepare data for further statistical analysis
• Prepare and summarise the results required to answer the research questions
• Summarise the results in a clear written and oral presentation (data preparation and data presentation)
