Aims, contents and method of the course

The Colloqium addresses PhD-Students and graduates in Sociology. It provides opportunities to present one's Phd-project, but should also help in defining research topics. Planned and ongoing research will be discussed with regard to theoretical, empirical and methodological issues. In terms of content, the colloquium is focused on sociological research in particular in the field of sociology of work, economic sociology, labour market and welfare state research. In these areas, a special focus can be on internationally comparative research.

Presentation of the PhD-project
Further development of concepts or presenting draft of PhD-thesis chapters

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Reflecting the theoretical approach, the methods and the progress of one's PhD-project
Supporting colleagues through feedback and suggestions
Using the colleagues' experiences for one's own work
