Aims, contents and method of the course

The participants should present and discuss new research findings (including own results) in the areas of novel materials, low-dimensional solids, methods for their characterization, and related topics. The seminar is intended primarily for students who currently prepare Master-, Bachelor- or Doctoral thesis works in these areas. Language of the course is English.

Assessment and permitted materials

Each student will need to present articles from pre-selected journals when their turn comes.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The students will learn to distill scientific literature to its essential message and to read literature critically. In following discussions the methodology and presented results of each article are evaluated.

Examination topics

The presentations are expected to be delivered within 5 minutes with the help of the article and possible its supplementary material projected on a screen.
