Aims, contents and method of the course

Presentations on historical, political, geographical, economic and cultural topics. Basic information - Geography, Climate, Flora, Fauna, Environmental Protection and Nature Conservation, Population, Languages, Religion, Administrative Division, Economy, Infrastructure, History, Politics, Folk Culture, Education and Research, Visual Arts (20th Century), Architecture (20th Century) Century), cultural monuments of UNESCO, foreign Slovaks, unique Slovakia, film.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written examination.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The course aims to give students an insight into the cultural studies of Slovakia. They should demonstrate basic knowledge of culture, geography, politics and economics from today's and historical perspective.

Examination topics

Presentation, lecture, discussion, excursions.

Reading list

The bibliography will be given in class.
