Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Futures Literacy is an educational concept that aims at skills for shaping sustainable futures. Described by UNESCO as a key competence of the 21st century, futures literacy primarily aims to promote the ability to consciously imagine possible, probable, and desirable futures. These visions of the future help us to take a fresh look at the present, deal with uncertainty and complexity, and play an active role in shaping sustainable futures. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which strive for a fair, inclusive and ecologically sustainable world, provide a framework for this.
This course introduces the pedagogical principles of Futures Literacy and its conceptual links with education for sustainable development and transformative learning. Macro and micro methods will be tested collaboratively and their implementation in the teaching of Slavic languages for linguistic, cultural and literary learning in learning scenarios will be developed, presented, and evaluated. An excursion is planned. This course works across languages, focussing on all Slavic languages of instruction.

Assessment and permitted materials

Examination immanent course; performance assessment is carried out through partial assignments (written and oral incl. productive participation) as a portfolio (textbook and literature analysis, translation, excerpts and reflection on specialist literature, development and presentation of intermedia learning scenarios for foreign language teaching, evaluation) using the content, scripts and materials taught in the course as well as specialised literature.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance of first session obligatory. Productive participation; at least 80% attendance. The written and oral assignments are assessed on the basis of their precise content, formally correct presentation in the appropriate educational language for the task, and timely submission. The assessment scheme of the portfolio (conceptually based on a seminar paper with practical relevance) is made available on Moodle.

Examination topics

Models and methods of Futures Literacy Pedagogy for foreign language teaching, textbook and literature analysis, specialised literature, design of educational materials
