Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this conversatorium we deal with the Burgenland Croatian language and ethnic group. We deal with both historical perspectives and currently relevant topics. The aim is for students to have a well-founded overview of the language and ethnic group after this semester and to be able to discuss relevant topics critically.
The conversatorium is designed as a flipped classroom. After an initial joint session in which topics and assignments are discussed in detail, students are provided with five teaching videos. This corresponds to the online sessions described above. These will therefore take place asynchronously, but there will be smaller interaction tasks for the individual videos. This will be followed by a first teaching block of discussions on further literature and relevant questions. To this end, students must read, prepare and discuss selected texts. In the second block, students will present their selected topics in the form of short presentations.

Assessment and permitted materials

The conversatorium is a course that is immanent to the examination; students should therefore be present at the face-to-face sessions. Students are expected to work through the content provided digitally, read the specified texts in preparation, actively participate, collaborate and contribute to discussions. Participants in the conversatorium must fulfil smaller interaction tasks for the teaching videos and prepare texts that are then presented and discussed in the teaching units. The students each give a presentation (approx. 15-20 minutes).
