Aims, contents and method of the course

This is module 3 of Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) course, which is specifically for participants who have completed RCR-module2. Participants will be introduced to RCR aspects dealing with a) expectations and responsibilities in supervision and mentoring, b) culture, colleagues and communication, and c) collaboration outside the research team. They will learn about different styles of supervision and mentoring, with focus on mutual expectations and responsibilities. Role of social and institutional setting in RCR will also be discussed. Participants will learn about the involvement of broad range of actors, who are not directly involved in the research team but do collaborate in relation to research, like funding agencies, companies and policy makers.

The course will have two parts-
1. E-module on ‘Responsible Research through supervision, mentoring and working together'- to be completed online over moodle platform, as per the above timelines.
2. In-person lecture and plenary feedback session.

Assessment and permitted materials

The participants will need to complete the e-module ‘Responsible Research through supervision, mentoring and working together' online over moodle platform of the course as per the above mentioned timelines. After completion of the e-learning exercises, participants will be attending the in-person session to discuss and present the tasks performed in the e-module.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Completion of RCR-module2 is mandatory for being eligible to attend this course.

For successful completion of RCR-module3, following are the requirements- completion of all tasks in the e-module, reading of the relevant RCR guidelines, attending the in-person session along with discussion/presentation of selected tasks from the e-module.

Examination topics

Participants will discuss/present selected tasks from the e-module in a plenary session (group activity).
