Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The UE STEOP - Mentoring and Reflection within the framework of Studienstart Plus provides space at the end of the winter semester to systematically reflect on the experiences gained through mentoring. The aim is to consciously revisit the insights acquired during the semester regarding study organization, learning strategies, and orientation in everyday university life, and to make them useful for the further course of studies.

Note: STEOP Mentoring supports first-semester students in starting their studies and is offered in two forms:
Subject-specific STEOP Mentoring: tailored to the respective field of study, organized by mentors from the same discipline, in approx. 1.5-hour peer groups during the semester.

Cross-disciplinary STEOP Mentoring: for degree programs without their own mentoring scheme; small, interdisciplinary groups develop learning strategies, establish contacts, and share tips for starting university studies.

Students must register separately for STEOP Mentoring, as the exercise (UE) and the mentoring are not directly linked. It is also the responsibility of the students to determine which form of mentoring is available to them, depending on the offerings at their respective department.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment is based on a written reflection assignment. This will either be completed directly during the tutorial session (and submitted via Moodle) or, for students who cannot attend in person, submitted via Moodle.

Minimum requirement: timely submission of the reflection assignment by the end of the class session respectively until 24th january 2026, 11:59 p.m.
