Aims, contents and method of the course

ECTS-points: 3
The lecture gives a general overview of mathematical modelling and
potential applications in physical, biological, ecological and economical
processes.
I Pattern recognition, memorization and retrieval of information:
Content addressable associative memories, classifiers.
II Selforganizing systems at the borderline between order and chaos:
Kauffman's regulatory genetic cellular automata model for cell
differentiation.
III Evolutionary economics: Commercial applications in finance markets,
the phenomenon of turbulence in economical systems
IV Neural network applications for computer-aided tomography.
Reconstruction of three-dimensional images from their projections.
