Assessment and permitted materials

At the end of the semester (Thursday, 24 June), there will be a final exam, which will consist of a short selection from a Ge'ez text to be translated into English or German. A supplementary word-list will be provided and students are allowed full access to all power-points and class notes, as well as any grammars. Apart from Moodle, no use of the internet is allowed, however.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grading will be based solely on the final exam. Class participation is, however, strongly recommended as this will better prepare students for the exam.

The grading system is as follows:

5) 0-52: not enough
4) 53-65: enough
3) 66-77: satisfactory
2) 78-90: good
1) 91-100: very good

Students who score a 5 are required to retake the exam.
