Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:
The course is held in combination with a scientific conference and thus offers students insight into the current research situation on the Moscow Conference.

CONTENT:
During World War II, the foreign ministers of the leading Allied powers, Great Britain (Anthony Eden), Soviet Union (Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov) and the United States of America (Cordell Hull) negotiated in Moscow from 19 October to 1 November 1943 on how to deal jointly with German and Japanese aggression in the future. In the final text, the Allies committed themselves to joint action against the so-called Axis powers, over and above their respective particular interests. In addition to demands for an unconditional surrender of Germany and a trend-setting outline for the prosecution of atrocities after the end of the war, demands were formulated for the post-war order of Italy and Austria. The conference and course will focus on Austria-related implications and the resulting political and social dynamics up to the 2000s.
