Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The Seminar will be held in English.
Citizens do have emotions in a broad variety of ways. They love the country, they hate the constution, possibly they even feel abandoned or neglected. This seminar inquires the variety of emotions that citizens can have. It also asks a normative question: Should certain emotions be supported and others rejected? And if so, what are the means to do so?

The goal of this seminar is an inquiry of recent contributions to distinct emotions, including love for the country and hate. It also discusses some classics on political emotions.

Students should read the texts thoroughly, give a presentation of one of the texts, discuss with each other in the seminar and complete the seminar with a 15-pages paper.
