Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course will deal with development thinking originating from the "Global South" by reading the book edited by Boaventura de Sousa Santos and Maria Paula Meneses (see below). The approaches presented in this volume will be discussed by participating students. The aim of the course is to get to know (these special) theories, to understand their position and their - explicit and implicit - criticisms, and to be able to critically assess them.

Assessment and permitted materials

Work online (or in class) (0-5 points), oral presentation (0-4 points), term paper (0-10 points)
Deadline for term paper: April 30, 2021

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

10-11 points: sufficient, 12-14 points: satisfactory, 15-17 points: good, 18-19 points: very good.
