Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In the two Bachelor Seminars, a bachelor thesis each must bewritten and presented in a talk. Normally, the Bachelor Seminars will be attended by students of the 5th respectively 6th semester.Consequently, this "session" of the Bachelor Seminar is mainlythought for students who started in the Wintersemester 2008/09.The Bachelor Seminar is offered in two groups. However, at thebeginning there will be (few) joint meetings for all students.Subsequently, mainly individual discussions between the studentand her/his advisor will take place. In the final phase, thetalks of the students will be scheduled. Sufficiently many"teachers" and students must be present during the talks. The active participation in the discussions of contributions ofother students is a vital part of the Bachelor Seminar. The detailed planning of this phase of the Bachelor Seminar willonly be done during the semester.According to the Curriculum, a thesis of approximately 15 pages must bewritten during the Bachelor Seminar 1, which must be presented tothe other participants of the seminar in a talk of approximately 45 minutes. The topics can - in principle - be chosen from all fieldsof mathematics. In particular, proposals by students are very welcome. In practice, the topics are fixed during discussions between studentsand advisors.
