The practical work comprises 15 half-days on appointment from middle of Dec. to the end of Jan. in UZA 2.
Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
We introduce selected techniques of synthesis and the most important methods for the thermochemical characterization of solid inorganic materials using modern scientific equipment. The course is focused on direkt synthesis, CVT (Chemical Vapor Transport) and intercalation as well as on thermochemical methods like DSC (differential scanning calorimetry), static calorimetry and EMF (Electro-Motoric Force)Personal Registration! Limited number of students. Approximately 15 half-days.
Assessment and permitted materials
Assessment of practical work and protocols, short final discussion of all experiments
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The students gain deeper knowledge of methods used for the preparation and thermochemical characterization of inorganic compounds and alloys. They are introduced into the use of modern scientific equipment and learn to interpret their measurement results.
Examination topics
Practical exercises on different assignments in small groups.
Assessment based on practical work and written protocols as well as the final discussion of all experiments
Assessment based on practical work and written protocols as well as the final discussion of all experiments
