Aims, contents and method of the course

The students know methods and the preparation of sampling for hydrogeological and environmental chemical research questions. They can analyze the samples taken from the field in the laboratory.

The overall setting of the course is that the water quality at the field site (Lunz am See) is going to be assessed. For this purpose, the students will work on three parts: Part 1. Hydrogeology /Groundwater
Sampling; Part 2. Sediment/Surface Water; Part 3. Organic pollutants from wastewater.

For each part, there will be a seminar, field and lab component. During the field parts, the students will learn about sampling, sample treatment, and measuring field parameters. The laboratory part will include nutrient analysis, inorganic water constituents, and organic trace analysis.
