The course will be blocked. The exact dates will be announced during the preparatory meeting. The course consists of 5-6 introductory units followed by a 6-day excursion to alpine observatories. The introductory units will take place every Tuesdays from 8:45-9:45.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

-Get knowledge about the leading high-Alpine research laboratories in the Alps (Sonnblick-Zugspitze-Jungfraujoch), their history, recent research results (literature research) and research focus
-Current measurements, observation facilities and running projects on the respective locations
-Excursion to the three laboratories in the week from 23 July 2023 to 28 July 2023

Assessment and permitted materials

-attendance check during the preparatory meetings
-assessment of the talk on meteorological and aerosolphysical topics focussed on one of the labs (teamwork)
-compulsory participation on the excursion
-conducting of simple measurements during the excursion
-assessment of the final excursion report (teamwork)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

-attendance on preparatory meetings 15 %
-talk on a selected lab and topic (teamwork), 30 min talk + 15 min discussion 25 %
-participation on the excurison and taking measurements 35 %
- writing of final excursion report (teamwork) including of evaluaiton of own measurements 25 %
