Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students learn basic skills for working with Seismic Un*x package to process standard exploration data sets. They learn and practise the use of SU commands as well as they develope their own scripts for basic data handling. They are also introduced to the possibility of tuning the SU commands by editing and changing the existing commands and they also write a brand new command on their own.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active fulfilling of the actions during the exercise. There is no special exam - students are evaluated during the exercise course. Students have the computer with SU installed as well as the SU manual (see reading list) at hand. Other notes and remarks are also permitted.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students show the ability to run SU scripts during the exercise and the ability to edit SU command source codes.

basic idea behind Seismic Un*x
commands for reading, sorting and plotting data
