Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar serves as an open forum for the whole spectrum of history of knowledge and science. Together we identify the impulses that are currently decisive in this field, for example in historical-political epistemology, activism and counter knowledge, the circulation of knowledge, global history of science, epistemic decolonization, and the history of data and quantification. The focus lies with the discussion of pre-circulated papers from ongoing doctoral projects. Each participant also suggests a central text that methodically informed their own work. About a third of the sessions are dedicated to current methodological contributions and invited guests. The syllabus and work formats will be adapted to the interests and projects in the first session.

Assessment and permitted materials

A chapter excerpt from the dissertation or ongoing work of at least 20 pages must be circulated to all participants 10 days befor the individual presentation date. Performance and evaluation criteria are discussed together.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Active participation in all meetings, contributions to carve out one particluar methodological focus (recommendation of a central article from your own field of work), ongoing reading and commenting on other participant's texts.

Examination topics

Results from the respective dissertation projects and reading lists created together.

Reading list
