Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This seminar aims to provide an overview over African ethics, both philosophical and theological approaches will be discussed. African ethics is not as homogenous as one might think: there are approaches trying to stress the differences between Western thought and African thought, but also approaches that show the universal grounds of African ethics and therefore reclaim that African ethics should be more influential in the international discourse on ethics. Today, all these approaches are important for establishing an intercultural theological ethics.
The seminar is based on the collaborative reading and discussion of selected texts. Students present authors and choose passages that should be read. All students read the texts and discuss selected questions.

Aktive Mitarbeit: 20%
Vorbereitung und Durchführung einer Sitzung: 30%
Schriftliche Seminararbeit: 50%

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Teilnahme an mindestens 80% der Sitzungen.
Positiver Abschluss aller Teilleistungen.

Prüfungsstoff

The seminar paper must be a personal engagement with the chosen author and must not choose a topic that could be answered 1:1 by an AI. If AI is used in preparation of the seminar paper, all steps of its use must be stated at the end and in addition to the text of the seminar paper , mentioning all prompts = commands which were used.
