The liturgical life of the Eastern Orthodox Churches is one of the major liturgical traditions dating back to the Early Church. This liturgical tradition is also known as the Byzantine rite and is also the liturgical tradition of some of the Eastern Catholic Churches. This course will focus on the historical development of the Byzantine rite, important theological themes in worship (lex orandi), and the structure and interpretation of worship.Learning activities
