    Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

    The study of religious experience is of interest to various disciplines and scholars worldwide. In this course we will read papers on understanding religious experiences in 1) different religions and 2) interpretations of spiritual, religious, mystical and nonordinary experiences 3) with an interdisciplinary approach focusing on religious studies, sociology, theology, philosophy, cultural anthropology and psychology. We will discuss the main questions, problems and critiques in the study of religious experience.

    Teaching methods
    Seminar with Power Point presentations. All materials (presentations, additional texts) will be uploaded to the learning platform after each unit. Short written contributions are expected during the semester, and a seminar paper by the end of the semester.

    Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

    Active participation (25%), written contributions (25%), seminar paper (50%).

    Attendance is compulsory. You may be absent without excuse for a maximum of two units.

    In the case of suspicion of non-transparent use of AI (e.g. through citation or indication of the type of use), the course management reserves the right to a “grade-relevant discussion”.

    Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

    Willingness to read the texts provided, actively participate in discussions and write tasks and a seminar paper are required.
