Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course builds upon the course "Introduction to the international human rights regime". The participants will have the opportunity to deal with selected issues concerning the protection of human rights which will be based on concrete examples.
After an introduction to the international right of expropriation, protection by human rights, protection by investment laws, the participants will be given the opportunity to work with selected questions concerning deprivation of property; a special focus will lie on the problems of indigenous peoples.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Basic knowledge of English.
Grade requirements:
Active participation during the meetings; furthermore, participants will have to prepare a written paper and present it orally in class.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

In-depth analysis of selected topics; the particpiants should learn how to elaborate and discuss human rights legal topics in a scholarly way

Prüfungsstoff

Presentation and discussion of the seminar papers of the participants ; feedback to topic and paper presentations
