3. Market definition and assessment of market power
4. Art 101 TFEU (Horizontal and Vertical Agreements)
5. Predation, monopolization, and other abusive practices
6. Horizontal mergers
7. Vertical mergers

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Attendance is compulsory. If you miss class for the second time, you will need a valid excuse. At the end of the term, students will have to sit for a written exam.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

This class pursues an interdisciplinary approach to competition policy, introducing students to both the legal and the economic aspects of the major competition policy issues. All technical issues will be carefully explained and should present no problems even to students with a weaker background in formal analysis.

Prüfungsstoff

Classroom lecture. This course is open to students of both the law department and the economics department. Law students should have basic knowledge in Austrian or European Competition Law. Economics students are expected to have a basic knowledge of microeconomics and law corresponding to the mandatory courses of the economics bachelor program.
