Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course will cover the fundamental principles of protecting individuals who report irregularities (whistleblowers) under European Union law. The course will address the legal framework, procedures, and challenges associated with whistleblowing, and students will learn to identify and analyze key compliance aspects in this area.

Methods: The course will be delivered through a series of interactive lectures, discussions, and case studies. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge to practical situations involving whistleblowing.

Aims: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Define the concept of whistleblowing and explain its significance for organizational integrity and transparency.
Discuss the fundamental legal protections for whistleblowers under the EU Directive.
Identify various types of irregularities that can be reported.
Describe both internal and external reporting procedures.
Analyze the obligations of employers and other entities related to whistleblower protection.
Assess the potential consequences of reporting irregularities for whistleblowers.
Apply the acquired knowledge to practical situations involving whistleblowing.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The exam will be administered through a digital multiple choice test on Moodle.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

At least 50% of the points must be achieved.
