Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The seminar will shed light on prominent approaches to and currents within what is commonly called comparative law. Among the topics covered are, e.g., legal families theory, the functional method, the Cornell approach, legal formants theory, legal transplatns theory, law-as-culture, holism, law&language and comparative economic analysis.

Participants should get comprehensive and detailed insights into the aims, theories and techniques of comparative law, giving them an idea of what has become a most prominent methodological approach in legal science and enabling them to conduct their own comparative legal research (e.g. in a doctoral dissertation).
Prüfungsstoff
Each participantwill prepare a presentation of 30-45 minutes on a specific topic. Papers will be delivered and discussed in class. A written version (max. 9000 words) must be submitted not later than two weeks after the oral presentation.
