Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Based on "The Translex 1000 – The Quintessential Anglo-American Legal Terms", you will be introduced to the most practically relevant and interesting terminology and concepts of the Anglo-American legal systems in 12 selected fields of law. "IAALE" offers an accessible and insightful first step into the world of Legal English and serves as an ideal (but not required) preparation for the more advanced "Anglo-American Legal English" courses I-VI.

The Vienna Model on Anglo-American Legal English, which features IALLE as its innovative new starting point, is offering courses on Legal English and the English and American Law Systems in order to help legal and language professionals and students develop special legal language skills that will enable them to be successful in an ever demanding international legal environment. It is a unique opportunity to focus systematically on this issue by offering a set of lectures/courses that will allow you to develop excellence in this field.

Grades are based on:
75%: active class participation, incl. revision of homework in class
25%: Moodle quizzes (open book)
