Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The Ius Commune MC - The Imperial Aulic Council aims at introducing participants to the Ius Commune as it was practiced in the early modern period. The focus is on the application of the Ius Commune and the numerous particular laws extant in the Holy Roman Empire by the Imperial Aulic Council, one of the two supreme courts of the Holy Roman Empire. The jurisdiction of the Imperial Aulic Council provides a fascinating picture of the legal pluralism that was characteristic of the legal order of the Holy Roman Empire.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
The students' progress will be monitored on the basis of their participation in the pre-moots and the moot.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
There are seven conditions for a successful participation in the 5th Ius Commune MC 2021:
- interest in, but no prior knowledge of the Iu Commune
- a letter of motivation
- above average English language skills (in case more than 90 % of the participants are German speaking there will be a switch to German)
- readiness to be part of a team
- participation in the two pre-moots, Frankfurt-on-Main, Gießen, Wetzlar, Fulda (winter term) and Vienna (summer term)
- writing a seminar paper based on the oral pleading in the moot court (in order to gain 4 additional ECTS)

Prüfungsstoff
The moot counts as the final examination.
