Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The freedom of expression is a fundamental right, which is a cornerstone of a democratic society.

The Programme in Comparative Media Law & Policy of the renowned University of Oxford established the Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition with the aim to foster and cultivate interest in freedom of expression issues and the role of the media and information technologies in societies around the world.

The annual Price Moot Court Competition challenges students to engage in comparative research of legal standards at the national, regional and international levels and to develop their arguments (in written and oral forms) on cutting-edge questions in media and ICT law. The Competition is currently comprised of seven Regional Rounds.

A team of 2-6 students will represent the University of Vienna at this prestigious event. The Central Eastern European Regional Round will take place in December 2023. Qualifying teams from the respected Regional Rounds could go to the International Round in Oxford in March-April 2024.

This course prepares students for participation in the annual Price Moot Court. Each participating team must prepare written submissions and 4 Oral Pleadings.
