Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The Vienna Model on Anglo-American Legal English is offering courses on Legal English and the English and American Law Systems in order to help legal and language professionals and students develop special legal language skills that will enable them to be successful in an ever demanding international legal environment. It is a unique opportunity to focus systematically on this issue by offering a set of lectures/courses that will allow you to develop excellence in this field.
Anglo-Amerikanische Rechtssprache II (2 hrs, every other semester)
will provide you with a systematic introduction into the law and language of
• US / UK / Austrian intellectual property law (patent, trademarks, copyright)
• US / UK / Austrian law of arbitration
• US / UK / Austrian tax law
• US / UK / Austrian accounting
• US / UK / Austrian insurance law

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Requirements for passing the course and obtaining a report:
1. regular course attendance
2. regular preparation for class (study aids will require at least as much time as class work)
3. active class participation
4. grade "genügend" or better on oral exam (student presentations may lead to an upgrade and/or replace exam)
