Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

To complete the Minor/Major in Strategic Management, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business is highly recommended.

Pre-requisites to attend this course:
- Admission to the Master's program
- Successful completion of the course "Experimental Methods I"

This course continues and extends the concept covered in Experimental Methods I. Students will create their own experiment. In order to that, we briefly discuss a software tool (ztree) and basic statistical methods. Students will present their research ideas, develop a research plan and conduct their experiment. Then they will present the (preliminary) findings.

Please be aware that student papers will be checked for plagiarism with the software TURNITIN. Students who plagiarize will fail this course.

Please refer to www.strategy.univie.ac.at for general information on our courses.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

10% - Class Participation
20% - Home Assignments
15% - (Poster) Presentation of Research Design
15% - Presentation Findings
40% - Final Paper

Please note that TURNITIN will be used in order to test all written coursework (e.g. seminar papers) for possible plagiarism.

Students may miss a total of 10% of classes (that accounts for 2.5 hours) without providing a reason. Any further absence has to be documented with a doctor's notice.

Attendance is absolutely mandatory during the entire first session of the course!

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

1. Getting a research idea
2. Learning how to use software to create/code an experiment
3. Development and execution of a research plan
4. Analysis of research results
5. Presentation of results

Please be aware that attendance during the first session of this course is absolutely mandatory. If students miss the first session without contacting the lecturer in writing (at the very latest until 24 hours before the present class' first session), giving a relevant reason/proof (e.g. illness=doctor's certificate) for their absence, they will be deregistered from the course and their place is automatically awarded to the next in line on the waiting list. After that, you are allowed to miss a total of 20% of classes (that's about 5 hours).
