4.00 ECTS (2.00 SWS), SPL 4 - Wirtschaftswissenschaften
Prüfungsimmanente Lehrveranstaltung

This course examines the political economy of banking regulation in the European Union with emphasis on recent regulatory reforms. The first part consists of lectures that introduce students to the system that governs banking regulation on global, European and national level. It aims to answer the question of how regulations are produced and enforced within this multi-level framework. The second part consists of the discussion of the key elements of banking regulation. It is based on comparisons of policy implications derived from microeconomic models of banking with the prevailing regulatory regime in the EU as well as the discussion of the factors that influence formulation, implementation and effects of regulatory policy on banking.
