Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The goal of this course is to discuss the master theses written at the Department of Economics. Participating students will present their own master thesis and critically discuss and evaluate the scientific quality of the research presented by their fellow students. To guarantee a lively environment where students can get valuable feedback on their work, attendance is mandatory and students are expected to hand in written comments on other students' presentations.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
The assessment will be based on the presentation of the master thesis, the written comments on other students' theses, and active participation in class.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
A necessary condition for students to take part in this course is that they have officially registered their master thesis with SSC. In particular, they have a thesis topic and a supervisor and are well on their way to complete the thesis. Students can only present if their supervisor confirms (at least two weeks prior to the presentation) that the thesis is ready to be presented, which means that approximately 60% of the work has to be finished. There will be a "pass" or "fail" decision. To pass, students need to be present in all meetings and provide written feedback on the fellow students' presentations attended. Missing a meeting is allowed only if there is a good reason, which needs to be disclosed and dicussed with the lecturer ideally prior to the meeting.
