Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The goal of this course is to critically discuss the master theses written at the Department of Economics, and to provide valuable feedback that helps students improve their research and writing skills.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Students will have to give two presentations during the semester. In March, they will present their research proposals, which should include the planned research questions, the planned methodology (theoretical or empirical), data sources, etc. In June, they will present the (preliminary) results of their theses. This second presentation can only be held if the supervisor confirms one week prior to the presentation that the thesis is ready to be presented, which means that approximately 60% of the work has to be finished.
After each research proposal presentation in March, all students are expected to give feedback to the presenter. By June, each student must submit (via e-mail) a document that summarizes the main feedback she/he has received on her/his own research proposal presentation. One week prior to the presentation, each student must also submit a document that explains how the feedback was incorporated into the thesis (or why it was not incorporated). This document has to be shared with both the instructor and the supervisor.
