Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The topic is Regulatory Iimpact Assessment (RIA) and related fields. The focus will be on Cost-Benefit-Analysis, Cost-Effectiveness-Analysis, Welfare Criteria, alternatives such as Happiness, the Precautionary Principle and Feasibility. Then the principles of Regulartory Impact Analysis as well as the Standard Cost Model (cutting back red tape for private businesses) will be discussed. The keynote lecture will be by Robert Hahn, one of the world's leading scholars.. Students will be enabled to carry out original RIA for simpler cases and to assess existing analyses

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Students will be requested
1. to present a short paper on one of the basic topics
2. to develop a structure for a RIA for a deliberately selected case as the basis for grading.
During guest-lectures bonus-points can be achieved by active participation in the discussions

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

1. Acceptable presentation
2. Submittnace of the case study, which will be graded according to completeness, depth and technical quality of suggested measures

Implicitely determined by topic of presentation and quality of RIA
