Most of the content of the class will be provided on a weekly basis online in form of slides with audio comments. To practice the new solution approaches, there will be homework examples every week which have to be solved individually and have to be uploaded in Moodle.

Live online sessions are planned for Oct. 6th, where the course modalities will be discussed, Nov. 10th, Nov. 24th and Jan. 19th (Q&A sessions).

The midterm exam will be held on Nov. 17th, the final exam on Jan. 26th. Both will be online.

Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course focuses on logistic concepts for designing and operating warehouses. The dimensioning of warehouses, the product allocation, the batch formation and order picker routing as well as the arising packing problems will be discussed.

Furthermore, different lot-sizing models and several solution concepts for them are being presented. The course aims to enable students to understand and solve the major decision problems faced in warehousing operations and lot-sizing.

Homework exercises will be used to practice the learned methods.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

A total of 100% can be obtained by:

- homework assignments (20%; weekly)
- midterm exam (40%, online: Nov. 17th, 2020)
- final exam (40%, online: Jan. 26th., 2021)

The homework examples have to be uploaded in Moodle.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

At least 50% have to be obtained for a positive grade. The other grades are distributed as follows:
4: 50% to <63%
3: 63% to <75%
2: 75% to <88%
1: 88% to 100%

o big-bucket and small-bucket problems
